I'm 3 years from partial retirement at 66, I have a pension pot of >150k, we don't own a house yet due to divorce some years ago. We have about 180k as a deposit available against say 300k house, I have no idea if there are any schemes to help us purchase due to the short period I have left to earn a sensible income, any advice please. I dont' even know if we can actually afford a mortgage and I've been very badly burned in the past by a financial advisor who took 1/3 of my savings (80k), please help us, oh and I'm ex forces.

There are several potential options.

As you may be able to secure a term to age 80+ for a standard mortgage or look at retirement interest only or lifetime mortgages, getting advice from someone qualified to advise on all three is paramount.I am a mortgage broker.
