During the storms a few weeks ago, I was travelling from Hednesford to Bham, train was stopped and we sat there for 30 minutes, driver told us to get buses of which non existed, I returned to find no train and had to get an uber at 8 oclock at night, 2 weeks into my surgery recovery for a hernia. I live in Bournville, with no train, no buses and no staff to tell me of options i ordered a £30 uber
I will post my email to the trainline here

On the day itself, to get back from Hednesford to New Street to Bournville, the train stopped at the Landywood station due to the storm causing cable issues.
I waited on this train for 25 minutes, with the helpful driver informing people we would be there by his words " indefinitely " and he was advising us to use the local bus services and our tickets would be valid.
I sort this information out on my phone and with a local shop as I have no knowledge of the area. I found a bus stop for the, I believe X51 bus. I waited at that bus stop for 40 minutes and no bus arrived, the schedule stated two buses should have turned up in this time.
I then returned to the train station to find the train gone but all trains were still cancelled. I then had no choice but to order an Uber to the cost of £30, no trains were available due to the storms and no buses turning up despite the time table. No staff were present to inform me of any buses or replacement bus services.
They refused giving no real reason, any help?

From what you state Trainline are correct. They have no reason to assist as you completed your journey. You need to claim "delay repay" from the train operating company that caused the delay.
You also contact the train operating company for a taxi refund, but good luck. They generally only pay for taxis if they have arranged them.1 -
What did the other passengers do ?0

I got stuck in Edinburgh the same weekend/date you're talking about. There wasn't great communication about how they were going to get passengers back. The staff were left trying to work it all out too. I was due to be travelling back to Yorkshire, when I got notification my train I was due to get on in an hour's time was cancelled. I was in a pub near the train station and my phone told me the train leaving in 8 minutes times was still running but I didn't have time to get to the platform and ask if I could use my ticket. I went to the station and asked and and nothing was running that night and told to return the following morning. I spent the night in my daughter's student digs.
The following morning, I returned to the station and tried again. There was still no train running yet, I could either catch a bus they'd put on to Newcastle and see what was arranged when I got there or leave it another hour or so. I chose the latter. On return I was still told about the bus to Newcastle, went to find it and it wasn't there and the men near a bus going elsewhere, told me to return to the station as the trains were starting to run. I returned, repeated the story but the platform staff looked it up and had no further update. I then suggested there was a train running to Manchester about to depart could I just get on that and make my way from there, but was told no, different train company not accepting my ticket. Shortly afterwards there was an announcement and we were all put in a holding area of the platform, whilst they sorted out who went where. My train came within an hour but no longer stopped at my station. I had to change. I got home 17 hours after I'd originally planned to.
I'm telling you this because it was chaos. The staff were doing their best but didn't always have all the information to give passengers. Hence why I think you were told to catch buses, that weren't running. I'd take the advice given above about claiming for your delay.0
