If in doubt I'd provide links to your actual profile on Facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter/Instagram/Only Fans etc., with your CV / application ensuring those present you appropriately...

Do you have a very unusual name? If I find a John Smith then I wouldn't assume that it is the same John Smith I have a job application from. If your name is Englebert DeWinter ffinch-Smythe  then I'm more likely to assume that you are the same person who has a social media account under that name, in which case you may want to clarify.
I agree with others that if you set up a facebook page or whatever with very little information about yourself (no date of birth, location, family details) but just a clear picture of yourself then you could point them to that if asked.

And yes as @TBagpuss says if you have an unusual name then the employer is going to be more likely to know they are looking at the right person.  That said, the OH failed a police check for a job a number of years back due to someone who had the same 4 names and date of birth having gone missing from their parole following 20 years incarceration for a very violent crime.  It was all a bit pre social media so potentially wouldn't be such an issue now. Perhaps.

Has anyone ever seen the two of you together at the same time?  Do you live in Edinburgh?  Have you been doing any experiments with strange chemicals?  Are there any periods of time, hours or days, that you cannot account for?

I think you mean London - although RLS used Edinburgh as the template it was actually set in London (I only know because I read it again a couple of weeks ago!).

I'd certainly put a link to LinkedIn on your CV but maybe not the others.

While I do have some social media profiles (Facebook/LinkedIn) I never generally use them or update them. In all honesty I don't like social media and don't feel the need to share my life with the World.

I actually share my full name with someone semi famous. Therefore if you google my name almost all the responses are related to him. Thankfully they're famous for something positive so if someone was to confuse me it would probably do me a favour.

I live in a very small city, as does someone else with the same name as me. Unfortunately they were arrested in the past for a serious assault so if you google my name, plus the place I live that's what appears. We're also similar in age too. I really hope no one ever googles this!

Despite the above I wouldn't say I have a common name so it wouldn't be unrealistic to assume those above are me. Either way there's nothing I can do about it.

Why not use it your advantage and apply for a job as a gansta rapper?

  • You think that's bad, if you type my name into Google people get an explicit warning! there is an adult performer, same name, same age, same city!
  • Tell me who doesn't? is there anyone who lives in 2022 and doesn't have at least one of social medias? I think its also better to use them to prove your abilities and skills. if its not private page like Instagram followers website. People should start to write them in their CVs
