Uber Eats as a second job

Hi, am currently working full time 35 hours a week earning around £17,000
Am looking to sign up to Uber Eats to earn some extra income in my spare time etc. Wanting to earn around roughly £400-600 extra per month.
But how do I go about paying taxes/national insurance, doing a self assessment tax return etc. As I haven't got a clue and can't find a clear answer online.

Tax and NI aside, if you use your own car I believe you would need business insurance, which would also take a hefty bite out of your earnings.0

You also need to check you existing contract of employment to see if you have to get approval from your employer before taking on a second job.

You count as self-employed for tax reasons & so will do tax via self-assessment which is all online these days

Look carefully at the calculations before committing to anything. You'll need to take petrol prices, wear and tear on the car, tyres and your time into account. At £100 a week projected income you'll be doing well to do much more than break even. You might be better off looking for a minimum wage position somewhere with regular hours; at least then you won't be covering your own expenses, power and light and so one, just to work.0
