Council Tax Banding

We are in a Band C, after doing a neighbours check I discovered our that our neighbour is in a Band B.  Our houses are identical, except we have be paying a lot more which is quite unfair.  I contacted the VOA, they did an investigation, from looking at the council website they changed there banding to a C.  Unfortunately can't get a refund, as all the other houses in our road are on the correct banding C.  They advised to look for other properties similar to ours within a two mile radius, that could also be in the wrong banding, and forward this to the VOA and they will investigate.  What I would like to ask what is the best way and quickest way to look.  Are there any apps or would Google maps be useful.  Two miles is quite a big area to cover.

Thanks,

Garcon.

If the VOA changed the neighbour's band to a Band C, then the neighbour has the right to appeal this (providing they are within 6 months of receiving the notice of band increase) and let the Valuation Tribunal determine the matter. However the VOA must have been quite certain that Band C was correct, for them to increase the band. Your search may therefore prove fruitless.

There is no quick way of finding the info you require. There is most definitely no app and a combination of Google Maps and walk/cycle/drive round the area. Then you will have to check the bands with the addresses you think are Band B. Or you could find all the streets on Google Maps or local street atlas, check the bands on the website and either physically look at or check Google Streetview
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
