How to like fruit and herbal teas

From time to time over the years I've tried different herbal and fruit teas. They smell incredible, then I take a sip and taste nothing except hot water. I've tried again this morning with a Twinings lemon and ginger one and again nothing. I even put two 2 bags in and left longer but still didn't taste anything. I do have a cold which is why I thought that flavour would be nice, but the same thing happens when I'm not with cold so I can't say it's that. I have friends who love these type of teas and it would give me another choice to drink when out. Is there a particular flavour that is stronger so I can try that or a different brand that might suit me more.

ginger is one of the strongest flavours I've found doesn't take long to brew.
I like apple herbal teas but they need a good five minutes to get enough flavour.0 -
I buy loose herbal teas, can add as much / little as I want depending on mood / taste requirements, brew in a pot.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0

Inhale more as you drink? I like peppermint (fresh applemint is my favourite) and just leave the bags/leaves in until it has coiled to drinkable temperature.

I find orange, apple and raspberry to have the strongest flavours most closely resembling the smell. Twinings have some pyramid teabag ones and I like the orange, strawberry and raspberry type ones. Blueberry, blackberry etc. I've never found one that tastes as good as it smells.
It might just be a case of trying different ones (get them off the reduced section in the supermarket for a cheaper way to try) until you find something you like. That may not help you very much when you're out though, unfortunately unless they have the specific flavour you like.
My Mum struggled to find any she liked for the same reason as you, and has settled on Twinings cinnamon and cherry as one that tastes strongly enough for her.1 -
Just a small point, fruit teas are both acidic and contain a high amount of sugar and so should be drunk , in moderation, like any other sugared drink.Herbal teas such as camomile , mint etc are not acidic and have no sugar in them. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-431415871
