Mortgage after Bankruptcy

Hi
I went bankrupt in April 2015, it has not shown on my credit file for over a year. I'm due to apply for a mortgage but am going to leave it until May so that it is a full 7 years from the bankruptcy.
I was wondering what type of organisation would be best to use for the mortgage? Bank, building society, a mortgage company like the mortgage shop or is it best to get a financial advisor?
thanks in advance

I agree with MEM62, mortgage broker. Good luck - one of my friends used a mortgage broker a couple of years after her bankruptcy dropped off her credit file and she is now a very happy homeowner. I'm sure many other people have done the same. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Have you cleaned up your credit file? That would be the first thing to do to make sure everything - not just the br, has fallen off your credit file and recorded correctly. I got a mortgage 7 years post bankruptcy. I could have gotten it after 6 years but it took me some time to get my credit file cleaned up. I'm now coming up to 14 years post bankruptcy.

I got a joint mortgage after 6 years post BR. Went through a broker and although you have to jump through a few more hoops, it all went through without issue. Rate was fine too!
