I can't help with the difficulties you are in but have you plans in place for when your home is sold, if not, maybe now is the time to try and organise something.

What a strange insult, 'you must be a Conservative with that attitude'.
Why believe someone's political leanings have anything to do with what's being discussed?1 -

We now have the means to pay the monthly mortgage, but Halifax still want to repossess out property even though it's still going through the legal process and require the whole of the arrears to stop the eviction, even though we've sent #Halifax
bank a memorandum of sale and they insist on a completion date even though our solicitors have informed the Halifax Eviction Team that with conditions as they are (Covid people off backlogs etc.) they can not provide a completion date, but could be 5 to 20 weeks.
... I read somewhere that Halifax bank says (not word for word) "it would be the last thing that the #Halifaxbank would want to do, go to repossess your home without exhausting all avenues. Well it's not true! The good news is that the most likely outcome is that you are going to bring this to a close with a sale before a repossession takes place, so the end is in sight. For the rest, and I know this is hard to deal with, but they really do have to just keep the repossession rolling as you cannot offer them any alternative. They have exhausted all other avenues, as there is no 'monthly mortgage' at this point, so offering to pay that isn't a solution.Just keep doing all you can to get the sale concluded as quickly as you can since time literally is money as the legal charges will not stop building up until this is over.
