Challenging Council Tax

I am following the advice on challenging my councul tax band but I have a problem. The houses in my street are random and many unique. My neighbour's house has more bedrooms than I plus a drive and garage. I have foot access via their drive. Their house is a band lower than mine. I am D and they are C. 
Our hourses are both detatched and made of stone and old - but how old I dont know. 
But I cant find another house in band C that  matches mine on our street or in the local area.  

My neighbours are happy for me to challange the tax band and know if might backfire on them - in fact we both think I think they should be D and me be C.

Can anyone give me advice?

Sounds as if your neighbour's house is at least one band too low and possibly yours is correct. If you can find similar houses to yours in Band D, then this may confirm it. What can you find in Band C? Have you been able to find any sales information?
