It would be resignation going to a competitorSo your employer would rather pay you than have you work your notice?I wouldnt rock that particular boat.Your friends are just nosey, keep mum until you start your new job.I mean you are being paid to sit on your backside, keep taking the free money and tell your "friends" that you have resigned and you dont want, for the time being, to give any more details.Or just stop answering their calls.0 -

sultan123 said:What are the rules of garden leave. If someone from your workplace rings you after worktime when one is on garden leave, is that allowed.
Does the company have to give strict instructions in writing as to what you can and can't do when on garden leave.
Your are 100% still an employee, you can be called back in to work at a moments notice and you can be emailed or phoned during working hours.
There is no more (or less) obligation to answer a call outside of working hours then there would have been were you still working normally.0 -
Within IT and/ or financial environments it's quite common for staff to be put on gardening leave if they hand in their notice. It's done supposedly to protect their systems, but does clearly defeat the reason for having extended notice periods. You can talk to whoever you want to in your own time. If asked about garden leave I would simply say it's because you have handed in your notice.0

The last time I was in gardening leave I had a quick call from the office once a week to make sure everything was ok but otherwise I was left alone. You aren't supposed to go away on holiday but they can't do much to stop you as long as you keep it quiet - don't go posting your holiday pics on Facebook for your colleagues to see.0

Depends on the terms of Garden leave; I look on it as being in the departure lounge at the airport.
with duty free if your lucky.0 -
Not quite relevant, so I apologise for the diversion, but
... is it Garden leave or Gardening leave? Surely one implies sitting in a deckchair in the sun with a glass of wine in your hand having a good time while the other implies backbreaking hard work with a spade!

Plenty of info on what you should or shouldn't do on garden leave e.g. https://www.klglaw.co.uk/garden-leave/
But as others have said, depends on individual circumstances.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0
