What to do?

I'm posting this on behalf of my sister. She's got herself into a bit of a pickle.

She has 2 jobs, both part time. 1 in a college library and the other is a school cleaner.

Just before Xmas, she was involved in an rtc and damaged her knee.

She has been doing her office job, with limited mobility, however she's been on the sick from her cleaning job since 4th January.

She's been receiving pay from her cleaning job, and has just received a notification that she's going onto half pay, and not entitled to ssp cos of low earnings.

I suggested that she put a claim in for UC, but she's now panicking that they'll know she's been getting wages from doing her college job.

I'm not much use in this situation but I do want to help her as much as I can.

Any advice is gratefully received. Thank you

Who is 'they' - and why is she panicking? If she has two part time jobs, it's unlikely that her terms of employment in either role preclude her from having another job, particularly in a wholly different field. It's also perfectly reasonable that she could be physically unable to do one job, but still do the other. If she's worried DWP will know, point out to her that they'll already know that, because whoever employs her as a  cleaner will have been reporting accordingly through their payroll.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

So, the fact that she's been doing one job and receiving payment from the other whilst on sick leave is ok?

Set her mind at rest: near the top of https://www.gov.uk/employers-sick-pay/eligibility-and-form-ssp1

Employees can qualify for sick pay from more than one job.

They could also qualify in one job but be fit for work in another, for example if one job is physical work that they cannot do while ill but the other is office-based.

In fact, the only slight risk is that either of her jobs might have a clause stating that she must notify the employer if she has another job, and get permission for it. It would be worth checking that.

OK with who? I'm not really following. Work?  I'm guessing someone who doesn't know already? Her doctor?

2 different jobs entirely. 1 she can do, 1 she can't.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Yes, there can be circumstances where an employee is fit for one type of work but not for another. For example, somebody with a physical injury may be perfectly able to do office work but not manual work.

Presumably her doctor's fit note is a partial one stating that she cannot do physical work and her cleaning job has been unable to make modifications to her duties and hence she is on sick leave however the library job isn't as physical and so within her abilities.

Not an issue or a problem as long as she's complied with any contractual requirements around having other jobs which are much less common for modest part time roles.
