in Cutting tax
Good afternoon,
My tax adviser did not submit the P11d and now I have to pay the tax amount outstanding. Who generally is responsible for submitting the P11d to HMRC? The employer, the tax advisor or the tax payer, i.e. me?
Annoyed the tax adviser missed that one and will definitely change them.
Thanks

The employer is responsible, are you self employed? if you are then you are the employer.
Are you out of pocket or has the tax payment simply been delayed?
Why didn't the tax advisor send the P11D?

Tax adviser clearly made a mistake. Am not self-employed, so how does one know, if the employer sent the P11d to HMRC or not?0

Did you receive a copy of the P11d?0

For example if the P11D for 2020:21 showed Medical Benefit of £300 HMRC would provisionally update your 2021:22 tax code, usually in summer/autumn 2021, to include the medical benefit of £300.
And review the 2020:21 tax year to compare the tax paid with the tax actually due to be paid when the medical benefit of £300 is taken into account.
NB. If you complete Self Assessment returns then it is your responsibility to make sure the return is accurate0 -

Can you explain why you have a tax advisor, very few people whose income comes from employment have or would need one? Regardless of the reason, it's your employer who submits the P11D so if it wasn't done the fault lies with them, although your tax advisor perhaps should have checked that it actually happened.
