Council Tax - Incorrect Banding

Hi,

I have been reading through Martin Lewis's article (from February 9) with interest, but I'm not entirely certain as to how strong my case would be based on the 'Neighbours Check' which states:

'If neighbours in similar properties are in a lower band than you, then you may have a claim'.

In my case, I am in Band B (for England) and neighbours in similar properties are also in Band B.

Based on the all the checks I have made so far, I believe that my house (and potentially these similar neighbouring properties) were incorrectly valued back in 1991 and should all be in Band A.

If I am correct, can I assume that there would be no risk in attempting to make a claim?

My apologies if this has been asked and answered somewhere in the forums already, but after searching through initially, I could only really find advice on properties that were in different bands.

If you have used any of the house price indices to arrive at a 1991 value, do bear in mind there are inaccurate usually giving too low a value. It is extremely unlikely that you and your neighbours' CT bands are too low, so there should be very little risk in you seeking a band review.
