HSBC Decision Obtained meaning????

Hi everyone,
I submitted my mortgage application yesterday and after the hard credit check the timeline status changed to decision obtained.
I then received a email to upload the requested documents which I did.
I just wondering how can a decision be obtained before the submission of documentation?
