With my Sister, we have diligently worked through her pension predictions, NI contributions, and back-and-fore with HMRC.
We have established that she can usefully pay 5 years up to 2016, and I have a letter from HMRC pricing them at 5 x £800.80She also needs to pay 3 years post 2016, and I am trying to work out the cheapest way to do this. Gov.uk says
and that she can use these prices going back 2 years.
Can somebody who is absolutely certain, please tell me which years I can use if we get the payment in before April. Obviously I would like to use the cheapest, which I'm thinking would be 795.6 + 780 + pick-a-year at 800.8, but I would appreciate the word of an expert.
Thanks

Has she/you spoken to the Future Pensions people - they will be the ones who can tell her which are the best years to pay...

#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660 -
She won't do anything. Either I do it, or it doesn't get done. They won't speak to me. I've been doing everything by letter, but I fear another round of letters will take us past April 5th. My question at this point is generic - not specific to her case. I feel there is someone around here who knows the answer.JGB1955 said:Has she/you spoken to the Future Pensions people - they will be the ones who can tell her which are the best years to pay...

The NI history part of the SP forecast will show you the correct amounts applicable up to April this year. 18-19 will now be a current price year at £800.80 as it is outside the 2 year protection window. 19-20 and 20-21 will still be at the in year price shown, 20-21 staying at that price until April 23 and 19-20 (and 18-19) going up to £824.20 this April. She will likely have difficulty actually being able to pay for 21-22 before year end. If paying before this April it looks like 19-20, 20-21 then 18-19. When does she reach SRA ?and I have a letter from HMRC pricing them at 5 x £808.60Are you sure ?
