NatWest would not accept share codes as a proof of ILR

Hi,

Both myself any my wife have been grated ILR under the EU Settlement Scheme back in 2019. When providing all of the documentation for the mortgage broker I have also generated the share codes. To my surprise they have responded with the following:

"Please provide copy of right to reside for both applicants (cannot use sharecodes)"

This is the official Government way to verify it and we do not have any other documents except the outcome letter which clearly states is not a proof and the website is supposed to be used.
Apparently they are expecting the NTL stamp in the Passports (or similar), but we do not have such thing as we are EU citizens and never required any visas etc.
As far as I am aware there is no way to apply for NTL without BPR, and you can't apply for a BPR anymore.

Can they refuse to confirm it like that? What options do we have?

Not sure if this is any help...?

This is not from NatWest, but does explain how to generate a document that perhaps they will accept ?
  • Sounds like a mistake.  Done plenty of cases with Natwest with share codes.  They want the code rather than the printout so they can check themselves

Are the share codes out of date perhaps?  Meaning they literally can't use them

Why did the Broker not simply use the codes to generate the confirmation print out and provide that with share codes and the passports?
    I am a Mortgage Broker

You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Broker, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser Code of Conduct. • Thank you for suggestions.
I will be speaking to the broker tomorrow to clarify this.

you log in to your IRL account and you get a few options. one of them is to generate a PDF showing your details, including your status. save that as a PDF and send it to natwest, job done. I also included a code, in case they want to verify the details. the document itself can be falsified in paint, so I'm not sure why they don't INSIST on using the code, they must be incompetent fools to not realise how the system works, but hey...
