More than one million people in England missed out on average savings of £40 in the 12 months to April 2021 because they did not use a prescription 'season ticket', according to data from our Freedom of Information request. These certificates typically offer savings to users who pay for more than one prescription a month.

Maybe some can’t afford £100+ for the ticket?2

Agreed it won't work for everybody, but it does for many. Just 1 monthly prescription though & it will save you money. A monthly prescription is not normally monthly but 28 days & there are 13 of those in a year. So 13 x £9.35 is £121.55 against £108.10. That is quite a saving even if that is all you use. I never want to watch anyone do what a friend of mine once had to do & decide which one of the 3 items on her prescription she needed the most.

the prepayment is payable by direct debit over 10 months so only £10.80 a month but valid for 12 months. I work in a community pharmacy and the number of people that would rather pay £18.70 for 2 items rather than a prepayment is astounding x2

Thanks for this I'd forgotten about the direct debit version. That is probably easier for a lot of people.
