Council Tax banding change in Wales

Please can someone clarify - i live in a cul-de-sac there are 18 detached houses all the same size and built the same year  on the GOV website i find i am the only one in Band E everyone else in Band D 

I bought the house in 1989 and added a very small extension to the kitchen in 1994  - many of the houses have kitchen extensions some built before i extended mine (the house 2 doors down from me give me the original plans he used )

I ask in Wales does this make a difference

As far as I am aware there are only 3 differences between English and Welsh CT.


1. Wales had a Revaluation in 2005, so the Antecedent Valuation Date is 1 April 2003, rather than 1 April 1991.

2. The bands are completely different

3.  An band increase on account of a material alteration (e.g. an extension) and relevant transaction (sale) can be backdated to the date of sale in Wales. In England it is effective from date of notification of the band increase.


You can of course ask the VOA for a band review, the only downside being they decide yours is correct but the other 17 are incorrect.

Big thank Lincroft when i click on a few homes on the GOV site for my street they show a current  D banding i can see on previous date they too had been set to E banding but now after what looks like an appeal they are now on D banding - these done after the banding date 
on mine it says improvement indicator NO
