Capital One F&F

Has anyone had any luck with capital one for an F&F?
Just a bit of background, got into quite a bit of debt a few years back. Entered into an IVA, it was horrific and I failed it a year in on purpose. I've since cleared the majority of my debt by either complaints for irresponsible lending or full and finals with the debt collection agencies the majority of my debt was sold to. Capitalone has not sold the debt on and I haven't paid anything since I failed my iva in 2018. I contacted them last year and offered about 30% then got a letter rejecting the offer. There was no counter offer and just told me to set up a payment plan which I didn't do. I really want to revisit it. I hate that you can't email them so I'm ok with having the conversation over the phone (I know to get any agreement in writing though). No point in requesting cca as still with capitalone and they previously sent me all information after the iva failed. Any suggestions on how to approach this? Ideally I don't want to pay more than 50% of the £2188. I have this fear that ill end up getting a ccj and it will wreck the fact that everything will be off my credit report next year

Try offering 40%, then 50% if 40% is rejected. If 50% is rejected then your options seem limited. Either set up a plan or as you say you could end up with a CCJ, although you will have the chance to pay off before that is awarded. You many have to pay over the 50% you want to pay.

  • I’m trying at the moment, but the debt is with capquest although capital one still own the debt. I’ve just had 30% (I think) rejected, they did a counter offer, hang on I’ll check it
    Debt was £15,903 😬 Now £2718.14 £0 😲🥳

  • I offered £235, this was their response

    Account Balance: £1,174.59

    Good afternoon,

    Thank you for your patience.

We have heard back from our settlement team and they haven’t accepted your settlement offer.

They have however offered a counter offer of £822.21, payable over a maximum of 3 months.

I have said no and offered about £340 I think, I’m still waiting for a response. Good luck with yours

    Hey @GreenCat80

I've not really got any advice, but good luck with F&Fs. I'm still struggling to get 118 down from £1940. I offered them 25% then said no and requested £1400 instead

Just keep trying to offer payments and see what they say! Hopefully you'll get somewhere
