Morning all.
The storm skimmed past here, after the first flurry of snow only a high wind stayed around. We got off lucky though I know that deep snow was lying only five miles away. I spent a lot of time wrapped in my heated throw being far too idle.
As for today, I don't think I'll be going out. There's nothing I need to buy, there's still plenty of veggies to get through and I may make some German lentil soup which'll keep me warm.
I hope that everyone is safe and didn't have too much disruption yesterday. Happy Saturday to everybody.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Getting light not so blustery this morning and rain forecast again today though.
DH watching catchup tv, and DS1 still in his pit. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and brekkie whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy..
Dinner last night was breaded chicken, jacket potato with beans and cheese for the menfolk. I had fishcakes and veg. Tonight I'm not sure what we'll be eating but I have plenty of supplies so will find something.
General pottering things to do today.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks GERS for the new start. I hope everybody is safe, well and damage free after Eunice hit us yesterday.
It's still windy here but better than yesterday but by heck its bloomin' cold and the snow we escaped from yesterday is now forecast for this afternoon, followed by an icy night. Brr!
Like GERS yesterday was mostly a day of sloth under the heated throw. The dust and vac round happened but it was a poor effort! Must try harder next Friday!!
I am aiming to get the first bus into town this morning but if I caffle it matters not. Just bits from H & B and B**ts but can wait for another day if need be. I currently have an eye on the curling and if it gets exciting I may stay put.!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care and stay safe xx

Good morning, thanks for starting Gers. Glad the weather wasn't as bad as you thought it was going to be yesterday. It was showery here, with odd flashes of sunshine, and became windy again. It seemed to get worse after dark, and, as expected, my visitors cancelled. It looks the same out there now. We've been hoping to go to Alnwick Garden, it's fully open now, but we'll have to wait till the weather improves.I don't know what we are doing today, probably nothing much.Taff, my "world beating" method of keeping a tally of freezer contents is merely a change in the way I record it!! I used to use (or not use, that was the problem) a chart that I'd invented on my computer, and printed off. It had columns for numbers, and different headings - meat, veg, fish, etc. Now, I'm using a notebook with a couple of pages for each drawer, with item, and how many i.e. 2 x 500g packs steak mince, and will amend as I use things. I'm numbering the drawers in the book. Much simpler. As for "world beating" - well, I'm easily pleased! Now I've bored everyone to sleep I'll go - hope everyone is ok and has a good Saturday,Take care folks!15

Morning
Well that was one wild day yesterday. Nothing dramatic for me thank goodness apart from my bin going for a wander once emptied which was frustrating as all I could do was watch. Luckily my neighbour brought it back so it’s grounded for at least a week now. Meter box door kept me awake bashing against the wall all night but all in all escaped unscathed. Hope the same goes for everyone else.
Found a company who may fix the door he’s coming round this morning to look so fingers crossed.
Steak Pie and chips last night. Risotto tonight with bacon and mushrooms
No real plans today apart from one call. Plenty to keep me occupied round the house though. The forecast is rain and high winds again so stay safe everyone

Hi everyone,
We were just on the edge of the red zone and that was wild enough for us. We lost a fence panel but Steve can salvage it so no problem - it just flew across the garden in the blink of an eye. Nothing to what Chris went through though, as it's half-term he was the most senior manager at the distribution centre where the wind blew a lot of the roof off. Cue the evacuation of 250 staff, fire brigade, police and everything else. We spoke to him at 8 when he was finally on his way home, he said he hadn't managed to eat or drink all day so I hope he manages to have a quiet weekend.
There is a huge sequoia tree in the garden of a house behind us and we were watching it bending in the wind, if it had gone it would have fallen away from us and other houses but I dread to think what damage it would have done.
We're off to L & B's again, they are going out to celebrate Laura's birthday which is on Wednesday, we'll stay over and probably go out for Sunday lunch with them and will then come back to pack to go up to Yorkshire on Monday.
Have a good day.16 -
Morning All
Calm here this morning, we had heavy snow yesterday morning so getting to work was quite tricky. I would have taken the train but DD wanted the car. Anyway, got to work and it was just raining. Still lying snow here but it is melting. Looking forward to going for a chilly dip this morning with snow on all the surrounding hills. Can't imagine I'll be staying in long, it will be mighty cold!
Busy day at work yesterday, glad it's the weekend even though we were only in two days, I need to catch up on some housework and shopping today, going to visit DS1 and the DGC with DD and family tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us.
Hope you all have a good weekend and haven't suffered too much damage from the storm.
How are you feeling now dp1? Sounds like your DD and the little one had a good holiday.
Lovely Easter gifts Florence.
Love that your bin is 'grounded' Nelski!
Take care. XX14 -

Good Morning all, what a wild night that was. I have lost a fence panel, think its in next doors garden, and several roof tiles but no serious damage, and I have a chap coming either today or tomorrow to give me a quote so its fixable.
main thing is no one was hurt, its just a nuisance and hopefully it won't rain in the next few days I live in hope at least.
Today the sun is shining and the sky is blue and it looks quite mild now the storm seems to have whistled through Kent.
Hope all are safe on here and not too badly shook up
Take care everyone

Morning, hugs if you need one.
We suffered with the high wind a bit yesterday but not too bad. The usual two plant pots went over, they are from our neighbours garden and I need to empty them and dispose of them. One has a small conifer in which Will have the growing tip cut out and put as far away from the house as possible. In anticipation I got a small amount of fruit and veg from Aldi, so we will not need to go to the market today.
Chicken out to defrost for tomorrow, guess today will be ADB.10 -
Morning all
All calm here after the storm we were right in the red zone and it was quite scary for a while, we only had about 10 clients on the whole site and the power went off about 11.30 for about 4 hours, we all mainly stayed in my cafe away from the doors and windows, at one point I was on the phone to the baker and saw two huge sheets of glass from the greenhouse flying thtough the air and smash to bits on the ground, the clients stayed till there normal time and we were allowed to go once they had gone.
Not too bad at home part of next doors shed roof was on our conservatory roof luckily it didnt smash it, the felt on our shed roof has gone never to be seen again ! and a downpipe for the gutter we share with next door has snapped off and is on their conservatory roof, its an old concerete one and very heavy so they need to get it down sharpih before it causes any damage, we got off lightly thank goodness.
Today is still a bit blustery but the sun is shining so we will get the dogs out for a good walk later, house work to do this morning and the shopping to collect.
Dunner tonight will be some pan fried duck breasts with dauphinoise potatoes and green veg, we have not had duck for ages and I really fancy it.
Hope every one is unscathed and safe, have good days all xx12
