DCA chasing a 15 year old account

A DCA are chasing an old credit card debt from circa 2006 which was given a ccj a year later. The ccj was never settled. I have had no contact from the original lender or from the DCA until the last few months.

I wrote a letter saying that as the ccj was way over 6 years ago that they would need to go back to court to start collection activity again, was i correct in doing this?

The DCA have ignored my letter and are now saying a visit will be made. If anyone else has any experience with this i would really appreciate a little advice as to what i should do next. Thanks for reading.

You are correct in what you told them, if they did go back to court they would have ot show very good reasons why they had not contacted you between 2007 onwards.

Others will know better but based on that I would just ignore them or if you want it to all go away you could offer them a full and final settlement. How much was it for?

  • I can't find the link to the statute-barred letter, but search for and send that, recorded delivery, with an added line:

Any attempts to attend my property will be considered harassment and intimidation and will be reported to the police.

    Good luck.

A CCJ was issued, so the limitation act no longer applies.
