Glad the costs weren't as great as you anticipated.
Hope you manage to keep cool. I had a fan and a wet cloth on me and still struggled.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Just made an OP of £214 on the mortgage. Balance is now at £59,760.02. Will be able to pay off a little more on Monday as it will be pay day.
Work have just announced we will be receiving a pay rise in wages on Monday backdated to April! This is great news as I have a few unexpected things to pay out for in the next 6 weeks so hopefully I will be covered and will still be able to op on the mortgage when I get paid.
Dh and I went to dinner with my sister last night. I was happy to pay as I had put some money aside for it but then my dad insisted on giving me a cheque for it - bless him!
No plans for the weekend and I want to keep it like that. I have some housework and washing to do, will potter in the garden and relax as it has been a bust few weeks.
Enjoy the weekend!Mortgage balance as of 21.7.21 - £75,766. Thanks @savingholmes
So, it’s payday today and I have op’d £436 on the mortgage leaving a balance of £59,324.02. I have received a pay rise, backdated to April which was unexpected and I am grateful.
I am out for a Chinese with an old friend this evening who I haven’t seen for maybe 15 years! It will be so good to catch up.
The weekend was nice and relaxing. I didn’t do much. Some cleaning, washing, gardening and I managed to dry all my washing outside. It means I didn’t spend any money so a very ‘MSE’ weekend.
With my pay rise, I am going to increase the monthly payment into my private pension. If I do it immediately, I won’t notice the extra money I could have!
I didn’t get the job working for the ‘Lord’. I wasn’t overly bothered so I guess I didn’t really want it. I have applied for another PA position in my village for a well-established manufacturing company. I could get rid of the car meaning a saving of approx. £400 and then the position could potentially pay a little better than my new salary. Hopefully I will get an interview.
We have a couple of nights away booked in Lincoln. It is for our wedding anniversary at the end of August. I am going to try not to overspend until we go so we can treat ourselves whilst there.
Have a good week!

Well done on the OP.
Commiserations on the job. Hopefully the next one will be a better fit.

Thanks @Aimingforthegoodlife and @savingholmes
Chinese was nice and it was so good meeting up with my old friend. We managed to cram 15 years into 4 hours and promised to meet up again in a few months.
Doing NS this week and will probably stretch into the weekend. We have no plans again for the weekend an I would like to keep it that way. I have the usual cleaning, washing and gardening that will need doing.
Oh, I forgot, I have friends over for a drink on Friday evening! Have got drink in and will do a cheese/cold meat platter but I have all that in too so not spending for it.
I usually stay in the office at lunchtime. It stops me from walking into town and spending money but today I am going to have a mooch around the charity shops which I haven't done for a while. Hopefully, I can pick up a bargain!

Took a days holiday from work today. It was a bad day yesterday. I went from wanting to kill someone (no one in particular but maybe someone in the office), to wanting to burst into tears for no reason to nearly falling asleep at my desk!! Peri-menopausal springs to mind! I also have a hormone condition with very similar symptoms but at 46 it could be time! I really need to sort my diet out as I have been eating too much sugar a d white carbs which I know don't agree with my condition and make me feel awful. 😵💫
I'm currently sitting in the sun getting my vitamin d. I have some chores to do before we have friend over for the evening for drinks.
