Carbon monoxide

I had two conversations yesterday with colleagues that really scared me. Both were along the lines of people switching off their central heating and then using alternative methods of heating, in one case an open fire that had been flagged up by a sweep as having a dodgy flue. In the other case, someone felt ill and thought it might be covid so they took a test which was negative. Their carbon monoxide detector then started shrieking and they put two and two together.
It has the potential to be a perfect storm - doing something unusual with your heating because of energy bills, when we have a disease circulating that could distract you from taking action that could save your life.
