Lancashire solar panels?

Hi all, half of our roof on our house in Preston,  Lancashire is west facing and large enough for solar panels. I just wondered....

- Anyone else in Lancashire had panels installed? Was it worth it?
- Any Preston / Lancashire solar panel fitters that anyone can recommend?

The house came with the panels, though, and I’m looking to add more and will get a fee extra quotes.

Thanks for this. I sent them an on-line enquiry and got an email back within minutes. Just a standard template, autofilled with my name to make it look nice. It had many attachments, all highly detailed and using terminology I know nothing about - inverters, batteries, various technical information that is meaningless to me. They included a "quotation" based on 12 panels, but I don't know if that's what I need - the same number, more, or less? It just struck me that they were happy simply to send that out where I'd really like to sit down with someone and talk it through in words I can understand. That way, I'd get a much more personalised quote and feel much more comfortable.

Perhaps they'll call me. We'll see.

I used Eco as well, panels and batteries for my son and just added batteries to my existing system.  Very happy overall and spent plenty of time on the phone in discussion.. no face to face contact though until they came to install.

Shame Eco don't go as far as Wales. I'd seek a quote from them, if they did.

Really! Oh, they had a drop down list on the website and it only listed Lancashire towns and a bit of Cumbria.

Sitting down and talking through it properly was exactly what Red Electrical did for my installation - also they properly measured the roof sizes and built a virtual 3D model of my house to show how many panels could fit. Then they altered that to match what I wanted (more panels) and the realistic limitations (DNO wouldn't want me to be powering the entire street).

The install took effectively 36 hours from scaffolding to commissioning including having the MCS certificate in my inbox.

I think last time they were mentioned on here, the feedback was that they were very busy with installs, don't know what the situation is now but definitely worth giving them a call since you're local.

cookie-cutter quotes always recommending 12 panels regardless of customer wishes, seem to me to be a possible sign of low installer quality.

Red came up when I did a search on VAT rates for PV, which I think is a good sign. However, they seem to favour Tesla Powerwall, for storage, which I don't consider value for money.

Don't just look at the website; talk to Stuart.   He has a Tesla Powerwall at home himself but is quite happy to supply other manufacturers' kit.  He supplied and fitted a DC coupled Solax Inverter and Solax 6.3 kWh battery pack for me.  Have a look at the case study section on the Red website for other examples e.g..Alpha Smile, Pylon.
