Debt collector chasing Sky Box issue

Hi all
Sorry this is a petty issue here.
So just before moving house I decided to cancel SKY because no one watched it. It was one day before house move. The cancellation team wanted to have the SKY Box back so I said OK. Then they wanted new address so I gave them that. Once they had changed the address they told me that they had sent a box to old address so I can package up the sky box and send it back to them. I told them it was my last day and I cannot come back here as I am moving quite far away and this house is going to be lock for a while. They insisted that I must return it using the box sent to the wrong address. There was no talking sense to them, it was a computer says no issue, or I have to pay postage to send it back from wherever I am moving to and they would not pay me for postage. So I told them I have the box and it is at my new address and I am happy to post itback but I am not paying for the postage. For sometime they kept sending me £100 fine for not returning the box. Nearly two years on they have sold the debt to a debt collection company.
Can I tell the debt collector company to take the SKY box (its still inthe garage gathering dust somewhere) ?
is there anyway to get rid of them without having to pay this stupid fine?
Thanks

Are you sure they've sold the debt ? Or is this a company used by Sky to chase debts? Do they refer to Sky as 'our client'?
I can't see anyone doing anything for £100 debt but if it's still with Sky I'd send the box back.0 -
What did you say to them whenh they sent the "fines"?0

Sky boxes belong to the customers (you) as well as aerials and any other eqipment
So they never had to be returned. Unless it's a q box.

Just return the box, sky have washed their hands of it, and after another phone call, or a letter, the DCA will move on too.
£100 doesn't buy much of there time, and they will move on to more compliant clients.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
