ACI debt collector calling

I wasn't sure what category to put this post under, so apologies if it is under the wrong one.

Over the past 2 months I have had a number from Blackpool region keep calling my mobile. I have never answered as I do not recognise the number and my mental health makes me very nervous answering calls sometimes. Anyway, I Googled the number and it came back with a debt collector under a company name of ACI. I have never heard of them. They also sent me a text, didn't say my name or anything just to call them and quote reference ..... To discuss a personal matter. I never called back. They have rang and rang and rang, I have blocked 3 numbers all of which are them.

I do not owe any money to anyone, plus surely if it was legit they would send a letter, an email or even turn up at the house right. I have read that they are scammers and con artist and are pestering a lot of people.

With my mental health though I am a worrier, I get so anxious even though I know I owe no one nothing it is keeping me awake at night, I am constantly paranoid and currently I am 35 weeks pregnant and this added stress hasn't been good for my health. I wish I had the courage to answer but I am to afraid.

Has anyone else encountered this company?

Just keep blocking the numbers and ignore them. It could be that they think your name is the same as or similar to someone else who owes money, but if they are serious they will send a letter to you and at that point you can see what or who thinks you owe them money. Try to relax, they will not send someone to your door without writing several times first (and a lot of the time that never happens anyway) and by then you will have told them you are not the person they are trying to find.
If you are ever with a friend when they call, you could get them to answer and tell them to write only, and that nothing whatsoever will be discussed by phone.

It is unlikely that they are going away anytime soon and prolonging the matter is only adding to your anxiety.  Speak with them once, explain they have the wrong person and it is dealt with.  You can move on.  Let them keep chasing you and you will keep having sleepless nights.  If you cannot face the conversation yourself is there someone that can respond for you whilst you sit with them?

SusieT hits the nail on the head, ignore it completely, don`t allow some sleazy DCA to dictate your life choices, its most likely what is termed a "fishing trip", happens a lot.

Is yours a new mobile number ? as numbers get recycled a lot these days.

It could be they are looking for someone with either a similar number, or name, so try to contact all the variables, its just a cheap way of attempting to trace whoever they are after.

You are not obliged to respond to calls/texts/emails, only if they get serious and actually send you a letter, that would be the time to respond.

Until, or unless that happens, carry on as normal, it most likely not even you they are after.
