Nail Polish Gurus?!

Blimey, the Rainbow Connection's a bit mental isn't it? - I think that might be a bit too much but it's cool stuff!
Storage, many thanks, sadly Ikea's not too close to me and I'd have to blag my wife to drive there! D'oh! However, I've found these (originally on the Singer website actually), which look like they could be a good idea:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Craft-Box-Cantilever-Pine-Wood/dp/B07C26RVZ7/ref=sr_1_59?keywords=cantilever+storage&qid=1644850262&refinements=p_72:419153031&rnid=419152031&sprefix=cantelever+storage,aps,150&sr=8-59
Looks like a good size, and I could get some velvet material to 'line' it to make it look a bit more special.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hobbygift-Wooden-Cantilever-Tier-Sewing/dp/B004AW1STQ/ref=pd_lpo_1?pd_rd_i=B004AW1STQ&th=1
A more interesting shape here, and more divisions, and a handle, however, I'm not sure if the first is better for nail polish - seeing more colours at once, and being easier to open (requiring less space).
Thanks again for the responses gang
Aside from this she asked for some Trinny London (new cleanser stuff), which sadly she just took off the postman this morning - so she knows she's getting it! boo!0 -

. All of these brands are very good.

In terms of storage, https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/helmer-drawer-unit-on-castors-white-10251045/ used to be really popular among the nail polish addicts that used to frequent this board, but you do need a LOT to make it worth whileAlternatively something like https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/moppe-mini-chest-of-drawers-birch-plywood-40216357/ or https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/klaemmemacka-desk-organiser-natural-plywood-50428815/ might work - especially if you're arty enough to customise (paint, stain, decoupage etc). Probably plenty of other options in the ikea "small storage" section too
Nail polish direct is an excellent site, they have tons of things, many are very good prices.
I don’t think it’s worth splashing out on really expensive nail polish, the mid price brands these days are excellent. I bought some Christian Louboutin on eBay and although their bottles are fabulous the nail polish isn’t significantly better.Beauty Outlet is a really good place to get discounted products. They are often “last seasons” colours but with nail polish who cares? They have outlets around the country and now have a good website. I have bought some Essie and China Glaze recently for £4.99 each.
I hope this helps. I don’t wear a lot of make up but am pretty obsessed with all things nail.
Ive just had another thought. Have a look at QVC. They sell lots of nail polish in sets. Brands like OPI and Nails Inc. They are very good value and make lovely presents. If you haven’t used QVC before, if you don’t like something you can send it back within 60 days even if it’s been used. That’s very useful for beauty products.1 -
Cheers. I've used Nail Polish Direct a number of times when my wife was bang into OPI. Seems Essie has replaced OPI now - she's not purchased an OPI since.
QVC - nice, nope, I've never used it before, interesting.
Right so at the moment I've got two from Nailberry - £15 each - so they look more like a decent gift. I've also got a Barry M (other end of the scale!) and an Essie.
I was considering a Butter London, but the colours didn't massively grab me.
Colours seem tricky now - she wants to go for spring colours, however, she doesn't tend to like pale colours (despite the fact I think they look great on her!)
I've actually gone for the Liberty Beauty Drop thing for her this morning - so I might stop being a nail polish magpie and let her choose and get other stuff from Liberty (although, ironically for this thread, probably not nail polish!)
I think her key things for choosing Essie:
* Easy application
* Quick drying time
* Doesn't seem to chip

for storage try Etsy or look on Pinterest for ideas, maybe you could make her something if you're a bit handy!
personally I wouldn't buy someone nail varnish without them choosing it even if (especially) if it were my wide!

I've opted for something from amazon that's okay but not amazing. I'd love to make something for her but haven't the time at the moment - but definitely a future project! I've purchased 4 for her so far, I'm fairly confident she will like them - I know her colour pallet fairly well, I guess we shall see in a couple of weeks though0

Does she have a glass nail file? Leighton Denny does them in nice protective box cases in Boots.
Otherwise, if you want to go spendy Dior Abricot nail care is fantastic - either this, or the cuticle cream. https://www.dior.com/en_gb/products/beauty-Y0028120-diorlisse-abricot-smoothing-perfecting-nail-care0 -
I don't recognise a glass one, some metal one yeah. Cool, that looks nice, any view on the large vs small? Price difference is only a couple of quid but the small one probably looks nicer!
The nail care stuff she's quite fussy sbout so I'll probably swerve that, cheers for the link though0 -
The small one is good for fingers, the large one for toes (personally I use a small one for both)0
