Working retired tax code

I have just started receiving my state pension, but still need to work. I work 4 days a week in an office, but it appears you cannot work when you are retired as my tax code as changed, to 360xl, and this is bring my salary down to £250 less than I was getting before I got the state pension, but I thought I would be getting more as I wouldn't have to pay National insurance.
Nothing seems to make sense, I need to keep working to pay off debts and a mortgage, it looks like I will have to reduce my days again.

You might get more response posting this in the main pension board.0

Your tax code has reduced to take account of the tax you need to pay on your state pension which is taxable income but paid gross. You are paying that tax from your wages.

You will still be better off overall compared of either not getting the State Pension or leaving work and living off just the State Pension and small pension from work.0

X is an emergency tax code... and can probably be sorted by contacting HMRC.
It's quite common to happen when one starts the State Pension Benefit and should likely sort itself out - probably quite quickly with the end of year being in April.
