I've come into possession of a lot of this through a house clearance... mainly old 1d and 1/2d coins. Is there any useful way of disposing of it? Do charity shops take them?

Ask at your local bank as some of them will take them and give you the current equivalent rate. They then return them to the Royal Mint for melting down.

Some market stalls sell them, the nick nack or antique types so I assume buy them as well. Maybe bung ad on FB or whatever local?
