I have had multiple workplace pensions, what is the best thing to do with all?

Options
Due to changing jobs I now have 4/5 workplace pension pots that are just sat in separate accounts, with no further funds being added. I'm thinking it would be easier if i combine the pots together, but don't know whether to create a separate one or to combine with my current workplace pension, which I have discovered is an option. I am worried that if I leave things as they are I will forget about what I have.

  • You need to look at what the different investment choices are for each pension pot as well as what the fees are to work out which is best and then you could look to consolidate.

The  old pensions are all defined contribution with no safeguarded  benefits?

Is the current pension defined contribution?

    How do the investments/charges compare?

See https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/pensions/article-3550085/STEVE-WEBB-merge-small-pension-pots.html which should make helpful reading.

Start a folder on your computer for soft copy pensions correspondence, a box file for hard copy correspondence, and ensure you let pension providers know when you change postal address. If you give them each an e-mail address which you will never change (set up an internet e-mail account for just this sort of thing, and ensure you log in at least once every 6 months to keep it active), at least they will always be able to contact you.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
