What should I do??? Won but got given extra £1000

Basically I entered a competition with a well-known clothing brand and won £1000 (10 winners each winning £1000).
Got paid the money on 6th January 2022 and was very happy with the winnings!
The next day, I checked my bank account and an additional £1000 had been paid in. So I had been given £2000 instead of the set £1000 for each winner.

I contacted the company straight away with screenshots of the payments and confirmation of me winning etc and no one has got back to me about the issue. It is now nearly a month later and still nothing from the Brand to say what to do with the extra money. I have told the bank’s fraud team straight away and they said I could put the money into my savings until I know what will happen. They also made a note on my account to explain the money.

Since it was a mistake on the Brand’s part, do I have any rights etc if it continues? 

I have tried to contact them each week on Facebook, Instagram and two email addresses (my point of contact about the competition and customer service).

Is there anything more I can do? 

Is there a time limit they have before they can’t claim it back?

I do feel so in the dark about this situation and it’s extra stress that I don’t need really.

So any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

If I was you I would do what your bank has said and put it in a savings account and let them come to you for it back, you have done more than enough to let them know.

If, and I know many many people won't be able to especially in the times we are living at the moment, you have a similar amount that you could put your hands on quickly if and when they come knocking, buy some Premium Bonds with this money. As you probably know PB's can be sold at any time and the money returned to you within a couple of days. You do have to wait one calendar month before you are entered though.

I think you've made every effort to let them know and it's now up to them.  I'd put the money in a savings account for a few months and see what happens.  Fingers crossed that you can keep it though

Follow the bank's advice and keep evidence that you tried to contact the company.
