they didn't have any.same as a lot of their shelves in the isles. nil piont!

Most supermarkets stopped using plastic bags years ago. We have had 'bags for life' (which are replaced when they 'die') for yonks.

Since coronavirus hit we have been having home deliveries of groceries and even they don't come in bags, we put our bags for life and a couple of laundry baskets on the doorstep and the drivers put our stuff in those. It's a faff but we're saving the planet. I hope!
The drivers unpack the crates for you ! Never in all my years of online shopping been offered that 🤷‍♂️

Maybe store dependant? I've had no problems by asking politely, better yet do as I do and put a note on the delivery instructions "unpacking help required", that way it's not a big unexpected surprise to the driver

Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens

Never knew they would do that. To be honest I am happy that they stand back while I load it in to my garden trolley. Worth knowing though for elderly relatives but as they only get 4 minutes to deliver I am happy to do it quickly x

Do you get the same drivers? They are perhaps used to you unpacking the crates and don't query it. I expect attitudes vary from store to store and driver to driver. I use Tesco (delivery comes from Port Glasgow) and Waitrose (comes from Milngavie) and the drivers are great and are always happy to unpack the crates. I've never had to do it myself - and if I did they would need a flask and sandwiches while waiting.

I too use Tesco and once a month Waitrose, never had anyone refuse to unload.  During first lockdown I left message online asking for items to be placed in baskets and if they needed assistance to knock, when things improved I tweaked message saying please ring if you need me.  I leave two laundry baskets and a small hand basket with bread please stuck in base.

I think they can do it quicker and better than customers being picky with the packing.

I bought three bags that hold up to 25 Kg per bag way back in  2015 they are Ikea bags and cost £1.85 for the three bags delivered from Amazon. I bought 5 more after I thought I had lost the last one of the three I originally bought they cost £6.95 for the five bags, then I found the bag I thought I had lost so I have five spare bags that I use as shopping bags.
Someone please tell me what money is

Its usually younger people/students that I see, I shop mostly in Aldi and often see a young person buy a couple of items and a carrier only to then see them walk across the car park into the adjoining student accommodation  :#  I truly can't bear it, not only is it poor environmental behaviour its such a waste of money.

Speaking of money saving my jaw dropped to the floor following a young girl through the checkout in B&M where she handed over a £5 note for goods costing £4.25 and told the woman to keep the change?????  What the actual ****

I overhear customers "oh I'm skint" to their mate. Then when going to the checkouts, "can I have a bag please". You wouldn't be skint if you bought some heavy duty bags which have lasted years. I have voided off a product as customer needed a bag but didn't have enough money for their shopping and a bag

I just don't get the young people asking us to keep the change. They will regret doing this later on. Some customers put their 5p change in the charity shaker at the till
  • It's not just carrier bags, its produce bags. My friend who works at Sainsburys is asked at least once a day, do they have any plastic bags to put the loose fruit n veg in? Sainsburys stopped using these bags 2.5 years ago - can use any bag or buy a reusable mesh bag for 30p. Seen a customer taking out a (thankfully unused) dog poo bag from her coat pocket to put 3 carrots in it!
  • I dont know why more people dont use rucksacks. Its easier to carry food and bottles, plus offers walking fun by holding to the straps. You can also put extra bags inside it. Rucksacks are the way to go these days for shopping needs :)
