Claiming overpaid student loan

Hi
One of my kids earns 20K, so £1666 per month. In April will get 2K bonus , which will put them over the monthy threshold of £2083 but not the annual threshold of £25K.
Looks like they will have around £142 automatically deducted for loan repayment that cannot be claimed back until April 2023 , is this correct ?
How do they then claim it back - via self assessment ?
Thanks
