I definitely save on electricity by not using the iron Jackie - nothing to do with increasing costs though, I just loathe ironing so refuse to do it!

Me too!  Only time my iron comes out is when I'm dressmaking which is something I haven't done for quite a long time but thinking I might get back to using some of my fabric to make some new tops.  I bought a blouse in CS this morning but it has long sleeves and I don't like them so I'm planning on chopping them down and will then turn a cuff on them to make a short sleeved blouse.

I got myself an old style carpet sweeper using Argos vouchers which I received from doing surveys. Now I only need to get the electric vacuum out once a week, doing quick sweeps in between times.

I used to help with the ironing at home in my early to late teens, I think I sickened myself of it because I rarely iron as an adult!

I’m in the non ironing group too.   Now I can justify it as “energy saving”. 😂.  Result

I gave up on ironing as soon as OH retired. After ironing 3 shirts a day when my boys were at school and OH had to wear a suit for work my iron now gets used very briefly. I’ve got a travel iron that I take on holiday and use only if absolutely necessary.

Has anyone ever used one of those meter things you can buy which tell you how much energy the device is using based on what you plug it into?

Were there any surprises? I briefly thought about getting one, but feels a bit pointless as I’m pretty sure I know what the big users would be.

The way things are going, someone should set up an energy reduction challenge on one of the boards. I think I’ll be keeping a close eye on mine.

We managed to get heating oil before the price rose to an insane level but are now wondering whether it would be worth switching to LPG with a new combi boiler, and timing the installation after we've run the oil right down this summer. I don't think we'd benefit from installing an ASHP, given that we'd still have to find a means of heating our water and there's a limit to how much we can (or indeed should) insulate a cob cottage. We do have some savings but not enough to do the kind of works that an ASHP would seem to require (like underfloor heating for one thing)
Has anyone here done the swap from oil to LPG, or can offer some advice?

The most efficient and MSE cleaning purchase I have made is a silicone brush, £7 from Wilko. Softer, hence nicer to use than the JML brush, easy to clean and incredibly satisfying to see it pick up dirt - dust and hairs in my case  - that can't be seen to the naked eye .

I sold my iron years ago. I discovered a friend's husband was ironing clothes on the floor - and they had a new baby - so gave them my ironing board. Haven't missed it yet and that was 13 years ago.
