The limits and shortages don’t cause us many issues I don’t really use salad items at this time of year. Peppers yes but tomatoes and cucumbers not really. We can do without for a few weeks if needed. The worrying this that they will use this as an excuse to ramp up prices again.Yet more price rises in Tesco this week too.The good thing is that we are nearly out of winter. Our heating usage has gone down in recent weeks. Especially with the sunny weather. Even though it’s not warm out the sun really does heat the house up nicely. I’ve had a few evenings where I’ve not needed to put the heating on because it’s been warmed up enough and stayed at a decent temperature. It’s almost 5:30pm and still light outside. This helps with light usage.:money::rotfl::T10

I'm lucky in that the local market and the local internation supermarkets all have loads of salad veg. They don't have the same constraints as supermarkets, so it's well worth checking them out if you have any nearby.I've had a rubbish few nights of sleep because of my knees and shoulder, so we're keeping things simple today, fish finger sandwiches for supper. Tomorrow we've got sausages and depending on how I sleep tonight, we may have sausage and mash or sausage sandwiches.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3658

I knew something was up as local greengrocers have been checking recently that customers are happy with the price, once peppers have been weighed.
I also paid £2 for a dutch cucumber in there yesterday, I eat a lot of salad veg but had started to reduce the amount of peppers I buy already due to the cost.
After moving further away from Asda in the summer I went back for the first time today. Usually go to Tesco, Lidl and Iceland with the odd Aldi visit.
To be honest the prices in there were not bad at all, nowhere near what I was expecting and nowhere near as bad as I've seen in T & I.
I spent £30 and feel that I got good value for money looking at what I bought.8 -
I popped in the community shop today - spent £3.50 - would have been £11.57 at full prices. I got a lovely red pepper in there for 20p.
Went to Ald. - first time for 3 weeks - no eggs in there and gaps and shortages plus price increases.
Made a salad with my cheap pepper/free tomatoes & lettuce and a wonky onion.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

We have had shortages for weeks, and I think I posted a couple of weeks back about £1 for a cucumber. So now its time to get creative ladies. I have never relied on summer veg ( salad) as it usually lingers in the fridgeWhite cabbage - shred it - better then lettuce. Grated Carrots. Diced beets, red or any colour onions, jars of peppers, gherkins, sun dried tomatoes, olives. sweet corn. - all goes to make a great saladBuying jared veg is a lot cheaper then fresh as there is less waste, Using white cabbage - it can be used in so many dishesMind its not just salad veg we haven't seen here for a while, brassicas have also been in short supply and extremely expensive and pretty pee poor for size and quality11

I'm in the SE and in Sainsburys this evening there was no salad stuff including peppers but there was bags of leaves a lot marked down YS. A women was complaining Waitrose was the same and it seems no eggs in either. I have some salad bits left from a weekend trip to the farm shop and I can live without salad bits but I do eat a lot of peppers raw and cooked but all recipes can be rejigged. I did pick up a bag of spinach which I prefer to most salad leaves and I do eat a lot of raw vegetables and some fruits instead of salad.

Jars of sundried tomatoes aren't cheap! £3.35 for a big jar in Tesco recently. Same price for an 80g jar of dried porcini mushrooms.I'm not a fan of salad in winter. I buy two small tomatoes a week for an omelette, and that's my limit. Last week I bought 4 as they were very underripe, so two left for next week, and I bought 2 more yesterday to ripen for the following week. I think that's why I don't like salad in winter, nothing seems to be properly ripe.Make £2025 in 2025

Just seen on the tv this morning that they are bringing out a new prepayment certificate on the 1st of April for HRT which costs £18.70 for the year. This will save people on HRT a considerate amount as some people are paying 2/3 prescription charges per month for it. Hope this helps someone.
