On the flip side - I nabbed a box of 100 F1nish dishwasher tablets in F@rmf00ds at the weekend for £9.99 - of I'd wanted to buy two I could have taken up the 2 for £18 offer. 10p a tablet has been my "target price" for years so it was a pleasant change to see that it's still achievable.
We also buy bread or rolls, ham and cheese as a treaty lunch if out and about - yummy! For airshows I usually budget to buy food as it's often a long day in hot sun, and by the time I have a heavy camera bag to lug about, plus a couple of large bottles of water, I don't tend to fancy adding lunch into the mix too! it's budgeted for though, and I shop about amongst the stalls for value for money too! Day 1 at airtattoo always consists of a "first pass" along the two nearest rus of food stalls to see which one does the best bacon butties - then that becomes our breakfast haunt for the following two days as well!:money::rotfl::T7 -

Well I shop online and I’m very mindful of prices. On the other hand, (also as a price-conscious online-shopper) last week I spotted the first Tesco price-drops in a while - cans of chickpeas, butter beans, etc dropped from 70p to 55p, and 500g pasta of all kinds, which had reached 90p, now in a two for £1.50 (may be Clubcard only) deal...9

I will have to stock up and I think chickpeas are going to be added to my cupboards as a good protein boost in things like lasagna/curry etc.
I think cannelini beans have gone down as well since they are now Aldi price matched at 59p
I can see a food shop being planned. May do that later and get some in the cupboards again.
Well had a visit from my sister recently and she brought me up a rug she no longer needed. Its a fair size (about 2.5m x 2m) and is now freshened up and on my living room floor, needless to say my sighthounds are enjoying laying on it at the minute and being able to play without sliding on the laminate floor so its definitely approved of , plus its making the room feel more snug and warmer underfoot so thats a bonus too.
I am using the last of our gammon tonight to make a pie for my husband along with some parsley sauce granules and tinned carrots. Ill serve it with mash potato for him so he has a decent meal to come home too.
Theres chicken in the fridge to use with half a jar of curry sauce so that will be the following day too.
I also have to try and figure out how to use pinto beans - I was substituted them on a food shop and have never used them before so if anyone has any ideas - greatly appreciated!

They're interchageable with any bean really, so do what you usually do with them . Me saying that will horrify a lot of people but there aren't many recipes where I won't subsitute what I have for what is asked for and seen a massive difference The only ones really that I find need particular beans are gigantes plaki, cassoulet and pasta fagioli. Or make refried beans..

I've been trying to use up odds and ends from the freezer as we're planning an Aldi shop this weekend so it would be good to have some extra space. So far I've found a frozen cinnamon and raisin bagel, some odds and ends of bread (defrosted and turned into eggy bread), and a couple of tiny portions of beef ragu which went nicely with a baked potato for lunch today. Supper tonight is cottage pie, though there will probably be a portion of that to go back to the freezer, so I'll endeavour to use up some more leftovers tomorrow.I'm going to start writing my list tomorrow as I am going to rearrange a kitchen cupboard, so that will give me an oppportunity to update the storecupboard list.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3657

If there’s just one portion left, I eat it for lunch the next day, but I have definitely done that loaves & fishes thing before when I’ve attempted to use something up and just made it bigger 😂Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Ahh, but today will be my third portion in three days of cottage pie! So, I think it's freezer bound. But, with the space I've made from odds and ends that is OK. Tomorrow's supper will use up bits and there won't be anything to put back (DP is having curry and naan - both from freezer and I'll have lamb chops and roasted veggies).
