My Mum started to wear trousers in her sixties. I like wearing fleece tracksuit bottoms as so warm.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I was born in 1949 when trousers were a "no-no" for girls/ladies and always wore dresses or skirts until I was in my 50s - fast forward to my 70+ years and I'm always in trousers/leggings/jeans. I don't have any dresses at all but do have a few skirts that see the light of day during warmer weather.
Last month of the year and I can't wait to see the back of 2022. Not that I'm expecting next year to be any better but we can live in hope.I'll start the year off with optimism though and be thankful for what we do have.
Have just had a coffee and a mince pie, so not all bad!Be kind to others and to yourself too.14 -

Same for my dad, born in ‘31. Never had a pair of jeans, trainers or a T-shirt. Always wore proper trousers and a shirt.8

I wore needlecord trousers (flared)from C&A in my early teens.
I had a wonderful pair of purple corduroy hipster bell-bottoms.
I wore Levi jeans (and DMs monkey boots) when I was 17/18.

It's taken me a while to reply to this part of the chat as I didn't want to bring the memories to the front of my mind, but keep them locked away as the bad outweighs the good.
Hand knitted oversized jumpers and cardigans, hand me downs from both sexes and jumble sales that never fit, always very cheap footwear and bullied throughout school because of that and other things.
I found some change in the street and spotted the most gorgeous green velvet evening dress in a charity shop, took it home and slowly turned it into a nice functional dress with a matching scarf and some to wrap round my ponytail. I wore that outfit for several years.
Also felt so good getting my first wage, buying a pair of jeans I wanted, not in that workie blue colour and again wearing them for years and turning them into shorts.
I'll happily go second hand shopping, picking up most things to enhance my existing wardrobe or tweak an outfit. Most of my furniture has had previous owners.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.20 -
My papa (in his mid 80s) is to this day always to be seen in pressed trousers, a shirt, smart shoes and a cashmere jumper, regardless of what he’s doing or where he’s going. My late nana (his wife) however wasn’t old fashioned in her dress sense. She was always in trousers that I can remember (except for evening events where she wore a dress), usually smart cropped ones though, not jeans. She was extremely fashionable and always looked amazing. She had a good eye for bargains in the sales and put a lot of effort into her wardrobe! I have certainly not inherited her fashion sense and tend to wear jeans and a black top and trainers 90% of the time (I work from home mainly).Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Then we'd put them on the draining board and give them a good hard scrub with Vim! Nobody wore brand-new looking jeans.Sadly, by the late 60s, Levis were no longer quite the same. They didn't go stiff like cardboard as they dried, or wear as well. Maybe the company began pursuing more profitable customers with sensitive skin?
