I moust (Ha!) have had strange mice. They all legged it when DtWC arrived, not seen any since. He's old, poor thing, when he has his food outside and watches magpies eat it!
Anyway that's by-the-by. I know smart meters aren't everyone's favourite but mine has certainly helped keep an eye on the energy consumption. I could easily have run up huge bills without knowing it. I have the variable DD too,I prefer that way.Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!6 -
We found chocolate was a good thing to put in a mousetrap, much more effective than cheese. Its me Culpepper LOL couldn't sign in with the old ID so time for a fresh start....7

when I had mice- years ago- neighbours suggested bacon, peanut butter & chocolate.
None worked but when I locked up the house (holiday home) the mice nibbled their way into the foil lined bag of mice poison!!
Blue droppings all over- mice gone!!
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

No news on D.
Had a busy day - setting up and selling at the table top sale and then putting stuff away. I count the takings with an independent helper. We raised £779.15 which is a record amount.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

We spent yesterday clearing the garage of mouse and rat poo. We definitely have both. We have racking 4 shelves high and about 15 feet in length with all my OH's assorted junk and treasures on it. They've been in far longer than we realised, some material has been made into nests, some old underlay has been well shredded. Although the plastic box with the bird seed in had been well and truly attacked, the tub of fat balls on a lower shelf had been ignored. The birds aren't that keen on them either....We know where they're getting in, we have building work going on for the past 9 months and the builders had to take the rear wall of the garage wall out to get the digger and materials through. We have a temporary pair of 'doors' - 2 sheets of chipboard that sort of meet in the middle, but plenty of gaps. We're waiting on the rear wall being rebuilt. I'm just praying they don't find their way into the house through some gaps at the top of the wall which the builders are going to box in, before the builders do the work. We've got peanut butter in the mouse traps, and peanut butter with mars bar in the rat trap. Only got one mouse on the first night. Whilst we've seen plenty of poo, we've not yet seen the rodents apart from the dead one. It's hard to believe there's only one mouse given the sheer volume of poo. We need to bring in some rat traps from the garden and set them up too. We've hired a small storage unit to store some paperwork and cloth items that were likely to be tempting to be chewed. We've cleared some things to go to the tip tomorrow.Make £2025 in 2025

Try not to let it stress you out @Slinky. It's obviously not nice to have unwelcome visitors but you're doing what you can to get rid. Borrowing an aggressive cat might help but I'm not sure how well that will go with the poison. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.7 -
I have a very lovely cat, but not going to let her get involved with them. I'm not risking her being bitten by a rat.Not using poison, it's not instant, the rat goes somewhere and dies then you've got a rotting corpse somewhere.Make £2025 in 2025
