Thank you every one who has posted condolences. It has been a hard year as we also lost our Staffy X in April. To be fair they were all old but losing all 3 in less than a year has been hard. We are now looking hard for a new dog. We are being quite fussy due to our age.

Just catching up on the last 200 or so posts, there is some interesting stuff on here. I have no idea how people are coping given the ridiculous prices of everything these days, especially with families. A comment from a colleague (I have been working away for the past couple of weeks) about me being cheap to feed made me realise that others are finding cutting back incredibly difficult. And then I saw this come through on my news feed, its really is appalling how people are happy to exploit those with nothing: https://apple.news/ASh6ZKUOjQTSmTYbdzlkwEQ . Another 2 years of this is going to be awful.
Which? came up with their taste test of mince pies, Waitrose brown butter one came on top this year but at £3.50 for 6 they can stay in the shop as far as I am concerned! In fact, cancel Christmas altogether. Christmas without mince pies will be just another Sunday. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.7 -
Or don't use loan sharks is the call.
Matter of preference I guess but Tesco Finest mince pies on special offer at the mo, £1.12 for 6. Still value to be had without the need to cancel Christmas11 -

I’ve never costed my mince pies. I make mincemeat every couple of years (it keeps for ever) and make my own. I’m sure it costs more than buying them but it’s a Christmas tradition of such long standing that I don’t want to give it up so I don’t want to work out the cost
Even though I don’t eat many myself because they give me heartburn!!
Actually, I take a dozen mince pies and some sausage rolls when we go round to see my best friend on Christmas morning. If I didn’t do that I would have to spend a lot more time and energy - and money, I expect - on finding something else to takeIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!7 -
Mince pies - I was talking to my aunt last night, she was telling me the ones she bought in Marks’ the other day were dated the end of this month!I'm unsure about my spine, I think it's holding me back.7

We're inundated with field mushroom recipes at the moment. Looking for ideas of what to do with them, I thought The OD board is the place to ask! So far I've got soup and mushroom lasagne.7

I make a mushroom "roast" with cheese and breadcrumbs. I can post the recipe if you want it."Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so that stupid people won't be offended.7
