I always put two mugs by the kettle and make the first mug with the hot water, then trandsfer the tea bag to the next mug and put the milk into the first mug.the second mug is then ready for my next mug of tea. which I leave to steep a little longer to get it a wee bit stronger.I always get two mugs from one tea bag ,goes back to the days when I was young ,extremly btoke new wife back in the early 1960s and I had to make two mugs out of one tea bag for my late OH and myself. I agree in the idea of making the most of what we have and streeetching things a bit.
totally zero waste in my house for not only food but everything I can think of. I doubt if I have more than a small bag of rubbish per week, and one bag of recycled stuff paper, tins etc.

My Dad used to like his tea incredibly weak @London_1It was only when I took my uncles away on holiday I noticed they were exactly the same. I think it stemmed from tough times in their younger years. Wouldn’t surprise me if they all had to share one teabag.

I am a bit of a tea addict so I make my tea in the morning then I put the tea bag in a little metal teapot (like the ones you get in a caff) and top that up with more hot water ready for my 2nd cuppa. The water stays hot enough and the tea bag is reused.8

I'm a big tea drinker too, and can easily get through 6-8 on a day when I am WFH. Though I am slightly odd in that, on a non working day, I'll have 2 in the morning and that's it.
Anyway, I switched to Aldi's red label tea. £1.49 for a box of 80 and I think it's still lovely tea. That will last me about a month (as I work in the office half the week).February wins: Theatre tickets7 -
I drink Twinings loose leaf tea. 1-and-a-half teaspoons is enough for a 1L pot, for me.

I’m of the “tea has to be scalding your mouth to be drinkable” brigade. Hot enough doesn’t cut it, unfortunately. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.7 -
Sounds like, most true brits, we are passionate about two things the weather and our beloved cuppa's.No matter what the catastrophe we put the kettle on.The minute someone comes through the door its ,'Do you want a brew '?
I like coffee, but my first love is my cup of tea, medium brown, milk,no sugar, and a couple of ginger nut biscuits and I'm a happy old lady.:) I'm not keen on the fancy ones or the flavoured ones ,straghtforward PG,Typhoo or at best Yorkshire,If brassic I will use Sauinsburys or Tesco's red label. Its the one thing I could guarantee I will never run out of.No matter what everything seems better after my cuppa
The quickest way to have a revolutionin the UK would be to limit our tea.:)
As a little girl I would queue with my late Mum to get our tea ration. It was doled out into dark blue paper cones from a machine in the shopThe top stuck down and carried very carefully home to go into the tea caddy.
Not a leaf was dropped or wasted. After tea was served, there was a friend who sometimes came to our house and would 'read' peoples cups.
My Mum though it was a lot of nonsencebut she was patient with this lady, and said 'Really ,Oh thats interesting' but she didn't believe a word of it ,but was far too polite to say, as this was an elderly neighbour who struggled with her ration so would'pop' in to see my Mum (basically for a free cuppa I think) My Mum was a lady of infinite kindness so would alsways say you never know when I might be in need of a cup of tea ,so never begrudged this slighty dotty old dear ")
Old tea leaves were recycled into the garden or sprinkled over a carpet before beinswept up with my Mums big wooden Ewbank carpet sweeper.Nothing went to waste at all back in the 1940s-50s
I hope we all have decent stocks in for the coming winter, just in case shops get a bit short on our favourite drinks, push comes to shove you can adapt loo rolls but nothing can beat a decent cup of tea

Loose tea drinker here…
I have a filter that sits in the cup. When done i rest it in an old Nutella glass and then re use the tea leaves about 4 times before emptying and refilling with fresh leaves.
can’t bear stewed tea sat inside pot for hours….working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?10 -
Our local asda have got large bags of typhoo. 440 tea bags for £3.97. I've stocked up on a couple. As a treat at the weekend we have loose leaf tea in pot. We normally put 2 scoops in the first pot which makes enough for 2 cups. We then fill the pot up again and have another 2 cups from the same tea.
