@elsien it helped me when I decided to read a Mary gentle tome  :) I did Latin too, and while I only remember puellae navigabus cucurrent or something like that [ the girls run after the sailors] it has helped enormously with my english language and literature comprehension, in that I understand what words mean without needing a dictionary, it helps with Spanish, French and Italian because I can see the root of the word, and it helps too in the garden :)

I did Latin O level - it was possible to pass knowing very little Latin indeed.
There was the comprehension passage, but the rest of it was about Roman Life, and questions about one book if the Aeniad and some Catullus poetry. As long as you recognised the relevant bits it was perfectly possible to write an essay based on the English translation we’d been looking at in class.

My go-to phrase which comes to mind is Carthago delenda est.
Eminently useful, I’m sure you’ll agree.
That sounds like something I could have managed! I struggled with Latin and failed O level. I've never needed it since, but still I've been glad I learnt it (as much as I managed anyway!) because it has always helped me with words and to be able to spell, associate and understand them.  Many people don't think about their own language much but English is an interesting language. It was the Latin cases that really got me - particularly Ablative.

Looks like salad cream needs adding to the shortage list, I've been to Sainsbury, Asda, B&M and Home Bargains, no energy to go anywhere else today but Heinz salad cream is a must have in this house (apparantly Tesco has a dispute with Heinz), strangely its all salad cream not just my preferred brand,  Will have to stock up when i see it.

The Tesco dispute was resolved a few weeks back iirc. Heinz may well be  the only manufacturer as salad cream is not a popular product these days.

Does it really have to be that brand? My OH can be really picky about certain foods (he's on the autistic spectrum) but he happily changed to L!do own salad cream which is much cheaper. Last time we bought it (end of last month) it was 55p for a 500g squeeze bottle. I believe that is around the price per 100g for the branded salad cream so quite the saving if they are able to switch.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D

We love salad cream in my house, always have plenty in because it’s not always available when I go shopping.

I buy Lidl’s own and prefer it to Heinz. Himself reckons it tastes the same 🤷‍♀️

I used to work in the packaging industry and had a direct relationship with Heinz. It is a low volume product. Heinz make product for other labels. Consider the volume of products such as baked beans, ketchup or tomato soup against salad cream, and there is a massive difference.
Your former employer may not have made as many labels / bottles for Heinz salad cream as for ketchup or beans, but there is a difference in the volume of salad cream 1 person can put onto salad (approx 15-25ml depending how generous one is) against a portion of beans or the amount of ketchup puton chips / burgers / bacon sandwich or used in cooking. Also, this may be a shock but Heinz are not the only manufacturer.

Oh and being a "low volume product" is not the same as being "not a popular product" !!
