I am ill just now and so cannot get out (literally physically too weak to do so), luckily I bought a few bits just before I got ill, and we do have a decent cupboard stock, but any perishable things we need will now have to be bought locally (by son or hubby, one at school all day, the other at work all day, so not practical to go into town) - that means the Coop, and while the staff try their best (and it's bigger than the store we used to have) it's really not cheap. One of the reasons I really want to get better is to be able to get through to Lidl again! I feel pretty awful with it too, hope you are not suffering too much!
Mine started mild but the symptoms are still developing. Headache, temperature all wrong, aches and a croaky throat. OH is coughing and feverish so I think he's got it worse. Am self employed and have had to withdraw from some contracts because can't focus on the screen.7 -
COVID is so rife around here at the moment, more people have got it or had it in the last week or two than I've known in two years, its so scary that there are no restrictions on those with symptoms. I have no idea where I caught it but it can only be from supermarket or work (where we are only working 40% and are therefore very spread out in open plan office). It took me down fast but within 24 hours had just a heavy cold and tiredness, still testing positive though. i haven't left the house even with a mask would feel too guilty."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "10

I am still struggling with a nice cold type lurgy although I've tested negative three times now but safe to say it is kicking my bottom and I am just exhausted even doing small household chores. Between a stuffy nose, gunky throat, temperature and a slight headache - I could just sleep for Wales at the minute.
Take it easy both and I cant recommend knorr super noodle soup enough. That's by far my favourite easy meal and it tastes yummy. That was always my mums go to food when me and my sister were sick and plenty of Lucozade ( I think im traumatised by being forced to drink that when poorly that I haven't drank it since!)Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

I follow a group on Facebook that is bargains and yellow stickers etc and there are people on their posting thier hauls to feed their family and I can almost guarantee that one of the first comments will be about how greedy they have been etc when in fact its someone trying to feed themselves and yes they may have taken one or two packets to pass on to another family member or to freeze but I don't find it selfish in the least.7 -
TheAble said:Hmm, sort of. I don't know if posting one's hauls on FB is in particularly good taste, and I can understand those disapproving comments. Surely better to take a little and leave something for the next person?
It is a bargain group so there are lots who post pictures on there so it is not done in poor taste etc (not being argumentative just explaining) but they cover a wide range of things from finds in stores to things online too - all to help save money and stretch the pennies :-)Time to find me again9 -
I am finding some of these judgemental and "holier than thou" posts really offputting and, I am certain, against the whole ethos of this board.
I am a longtime member (with a fairly thick skin) but rarely post for exactly this reason. God help any newbies who come on here to post their bargains! Have we now got to add the caveat of how many we left on the shelf?"Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so that stupid people won't be offended.22 -

I don't know what happened to people being happy for each other and celebrating their bargains without the fear of backlash or upsetting someone. xTime to find me again9 -
It feels like almost the only place on MSE these days that the "no judgement" guidelines still hold water is DFW. (And that often only applies when "regulars" from other boards don't stray over there for a bit of disaster-tourism!

My previous post: I've just done an online order for Tuesday delivery and noticed four items I need are going to cost a total of 90p more than previously (teabags, bread flour. dripping and tomato puree).
The online order was delivered today and I received everything I ordered. However, I couldn't order the dripping (out of stock - sigh) and I decided against the teabags and bread flour as I have enough in my store cupboard for now. That leaves me with £5 in June's grocery budget - not much I know, but it will still go in my Winter Squirrel Fund. And I've got £2 bagged up in 2p and 1p coins to add as well. I'm happy with any savings I can make, however small they might be.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.7 -
I had my breakdown renewal come through, they wanted £220 for the year, looked online, same firm is having an online special till 4th July, I looked trough that and got it down to £140 with 2 extra services included, I phoned up to cancel it and told them why and they have price matched the online price, so a nice saving of £80 to help towards the winter bills.£71.93/ £180.0012
