No, this is true. It isn't right. And two wrongs don't make a right.

But you know, it's nice to have a moral high horse but I don't expect that's going to last forever when the choice is more difficult between heat and eat. Personally, my morals are fairly flexible, I don't care about having the moral high ground, I like being honest, but if being honest impacted on my ability to live, it would soon be left by the wayside. Also, it has never bothered me what people think of me, so if anyone does want to have a go at my morally flexible outlook, they're welcome to.

It is more that I don't like the 'TFL spend money like water so a bit more won't make a difference" comment rather than taking the moral high ground on charging at work.

I and my colleagues & bosses charge our phones at work when necessary but we don't say "oh the NHS waste money so it doesn't matter".

What? So you charge your mobile phone at work in the NHS (another utterly money wasting company) but you are morally against my husband charging his work mobile at his workplace? That makes no sense!

I would save your "outrage" for something more important, honestly.

I plug my phone into the USB port at the back of the telly.That’s on anyway,so no more juice being used.

Could we possibly leave the moral posturing at the door? Some folk charge their phones at work and their company are fine with it. Some charge their phone at work and their company might not be so fine with it if they knew - but you know what, those folk are taking an adult decision and the risk is theirs. Some people choose not to charge their phones at work - for whatever reason - and that choice doesn’t make them morally better than anyone else, it simply means they’ve made a different choice. 

This has been a great thread so far, with loads of useful and helpful info and support for what is, for many, a tricky time. Let’s not let judgement creep in and put folk off posting, eh?

You could also try taking a little lidded pot with you and any "leftover" fruit salad you have on your table and be decanted in there, since you don't like to contribute to food waste

Obviously I'm not saying "take loads of Premier Inn food back to the island" because that would be stupid. But if DS is the kind of child that gets hungry an hour after he's eaten two adult portions of eggs and bacon then at least you'll have a few extra supplies and you'll have got your moneys worth from your booking.

My grandaughter used to work at the Beefeater which does the breakfast for the Premier Inn next door and People regularly take enough food from the all you can eat breakfast to have for lunch and snacks.

We have a USB charger for the car - goes into the 12V socket (where the old cigarette lighter used to go). The one that we have is a dual port version, so the sat nav and the phone can charge at the same time. I think it was about £10 from Ama%on

No Sains in Inverness, nearest would be Nairn. I’d imagine any savings would be wiped out with the extra fuel costs.

My car has a built in charger for my phone on the dashboard so I automatically plug the phone in when I am driving.it also has a slot for the phone to sit in which is handy so its not sliding around.But if my phone rings I have a button on the steeringwheel that I can just push to answer, The display will also show any texts or emails which is handy.So many gadgets on modern cars today. When I started driving back in 1960 I thought I was well off just having little indicator flags on my car so I dodn't have to use hand signals on frosty mornings  

Off to Dobbies this morning for my freebie coffee with my friends , the best £10.00 a year spent for the two hot drinks per month. A couple of hours nattering and chatting in the warm, with coffee and social company
My eldest DD has a loyalty card as well but so rarely uses it she gave it to me to use during the year as she really only uses it around Christmas time when she's buying bits in there. So I make good use of it along with mine.

Although the sun isn't out its not cold at all ,quite mild in fact. 

Using up the end of a box of y/s raspberries today in a trifle, they were reduced to £1.00 and had some last night for pudding and the rest will get used this morning in a raspberry jelly.  

Using up as much as I can in stock and stashing the spare cash away. I think I'm turning into a squirrel

I'm pretty sure it will take more electricity just as charging while in the car uses more petrol. There is no such thing as free energy. As others have said the cost of phone charging is very small compared to the cost of driving a car or watching a TV so the cost of phone charging while doing either of these is negligible, but there is a cost.

I have this on mine also. It is a bit big brotherish though when I get in the car and because it's Tuesday, the phone sat nav automatically brings up the route to my local supermarket.

With regards charging in the car not coming free, mine's a hybrid car that charges an additional battery when slowing down, so in a way I'm getting a bit of 'free' energy from that.
