In any case North of Watford actually refers to north of the Watford Gap - you probably know the services on the M1 - so entirely different locations. Just sayin’.

Well I made my first Christmas purchase today for family  - they are meant for christmas presents but I have a suspicion if the weather is to get worse then they may be gifted them early. 

I was looking for oodies or similar and on the online home shop they have them for between £9 and £35 and different lengths so I have brought 3 of them - one for each child and one for husband. Total cost £33 including delivery. 

Husband has arthritis and really feels the cold, kids not so much but they are comfort bugs, and im peri menopausal and still sleeping with the window wide open much to husbands annoyance. I brought them originally as clothing for them to wear after they have been mountain biking or whilst they are resting, if the weather turns they have something warm to change into in the van etc but Im thinking with them only being about £10 each I may get a few more for the van and give them these ones early so I can hold off on the gas a bit more!

I'm coming back to the fold after a long time AWOL, nice to see some familiar names still here!

Like a lot of people, I'm sure, my finances are stuffed, and not likely to be better any time soon, so am biting the bullet and getting back to OS ways! 

Feel like I've just been in survival mode for a long time, and sleepwalking through stuff, but am now awake again and ready to get cracking! 

Hope you'll have me back...

Good Morning Cheapskate, and welcome back. I think everyone is feeling the pinch today and with winter coming on we are all squirrelling down and hoping the cold isn't too severe this winter.

My DD spotted a long length cardi for me back in the summer ,Well its pretty long on me as I'm 5'3" so its well over mid calf It is a rather startling cerise colour, not one I would perhaps wear outside, but as it a very soft and cosy wool mixture with a belt ,it will be worn while I'm watching tv or knitting during the winter.It was £60.00 reduced to £14 in the spring and I know I shall definitely be wearing it this winter to keep the draughts out with my electric thow put over my knees I am hoping to keep the heating bills down as much as possible. 
I've been in hospital for the past 4 weeks, and probably for another two as I'm in rehab to get me mobile again so my energy bill is quite low at the moment. But I'm looking forward to getting back to y own little house none the less.

Have a good week everyone and keep safe and dry if possible My cousins live in Brechin in Angus, and one lives tight by the rive I'm hoping him and his wife are OK.

Sorry, a moan from me today; just discovered yet more "shrinkflation" on some of our everyday products.

Lidl dishwasher tablets, box of 50 is now a box of 40; Simple soar bars - 125 gm bar is now 120 gm bar.

(Sigh) and McVitie's digestives.... a 500 gm pack shrunk to 400 gms a while ago and has now shrunk again to 360 gms.

Won't be long before I'm buying packets of air at this rate.

For all the world, I don't understand why manufacturers can't simply increase the price openly rather than this underhand way of doing things.

On the bright side, I'm glad you're doing well Jackie.

I'm away for work Tuesday - Thursday next week so my breakfast and dinners will be covered. I've made a big pot of "bendy veg" soup for my lunches and will take oatcakes, fruit and crisps to bulk it out a bit.

Good afternoon everyone 
I made my Xmas list this week and I’ve ordered presents for granddaughter and the littlies, the bigger kids I send money to (it used to be vouchers but you never know which firms are going bankrupt next) 
I get paid on Wednesday so I’m aiming to keep as much of the £50 I’ve got left and put it in the Xmas savings to transfer in December to the relevant parents.
We are having a family holiday in June next year so instead of buying our kids stuff that they don’t need we’re paying part of their part of the holiday.
We have cheaper electric between 11 and 4 today so I saved the washing, dishwashing and showering till after that. I’ve also got a chilli in the slow cooker for tomorrow and the veg for tea is ready to be cooked before. It’s only pennies but it all helps.
Luckily we’ve not needed heat here yet. Our flat is really small and just putting the oven on or using a throw over my knees is enough to keep warm.
Anyway time to get on
