Overpaid Student Finance - Was on Wrong Payment Plan 4 years ago!

Just wanted some advice; I met up with some friends today and just through random conversations, somehow we were talking about student loan payments and one of my friends didn't believe me when I said how much tax I used to pay when I was employed. He then told me I must've been on the wrong payment plan as his was £X which was way lower than mine on similar pay. He said he had a similar problem being on a wrong plan but they didn't refund his money, but to check it when I got home.
So I went through some old payslips and just realized the years 2017/2018/2019 I was on Student Loan Repayment Plan 1 instead of 2, which you pay more tax on.
This was as much as £60-70 extra on some months when I calculated the difference.
Obviously this adds up to potentially like upto £2000 over the 2 years.
I had some questions
1) I have some of the years P60's (one of the years unfortunately its overwritten with some random other PDF I might've saved over it by mistake) & I have some payslips but not the older ones - is it possible to still retrieve these from my old employer? They were done electronically on a portal at the time.
2) Are they likely to give me any sort of repayment all these years later? I have no idea how I missed it and didn't realize; I guess I must've misread it once and never looked at it again and assumed it was the correct amount until now - but obviously it was their fault not mine
Thanks for any advice, appreciate it

Are you sure you were on the wrong plan? Advice from your mate down the pub is not a reliable source.
