Hi all I'm a newbie and just activated my Instagram account to day to join some comps. I joined once which I think had been posted here. Fudge hair Instagram  and I have just received this message which I don't understand what they're asking me to do and it doesn't seem legit. Can anyone advise please ? Hello, Congratulations !! 🎁

Unfortunately it's the case with A LOT of instagram competitions that people are making fake accounts to try and dupe people into sending over their bank details. You will usually find that these fake accounts will follow you after you've entered the competition.

Ways to identify the fake account
- Spelling differences in the name of the company - in the case above 'fudge hair' has had another d added to the username 'fuddgehair'
- Bio will say something about being a page for the winners
- Companies will not ask for your bank details for a competition - it's not a competition if you have to pay for something. 

If you're ever in doubt, reach out to the genuine company and ask them.

There's alot of scammers who look for genuine competitions then set up false accounts (note the 2 x d's in the new profile they're trying to direct to) 

The texts/calls/links will all cost a fortune or ask for financial information. I'd report it and block/delete

Right thank you. Thank makes sense as their page is different to the one that posted the comp. Thought id been lucky on my first day! Thanks guys

I get a follow from a fake account every time I enter an IG comp. I just block or try to report. They are normally easy to spot as written above have different spelling and normally say they are a "winners account".

I get the same for every comp enter on Insta...I remove follower and block, most Instagram accounts have also had to type on their bio that this is their only account, if contacted by another pretending to be them just block or report. .  Yeah @redfox5 has it spot on, they usually have winners account as the intro..any that ask you to click the bit ly link are usually scammers

Glad I searched for "Instagram scam" because I received this message from an account whose name (kids stuff crazy soap) I recognised from a recent competition. I was already suspicious but clicked the bio link and found the red flag that they wanted my card details! And that's when I stop. I have two other very similar messages so I now know to just delete them.
