Civil Service Interview and reserve list

Hi, I had a interview yesterday for a position within the civil service. I was so sure that I had messed it all up as I got super nervous in the interview and I thought I had blown it. I didn’t even ask any questions at the end cause I didn’t want to waste any more of their time.
However, I got an email to say I had been put on the reserve list. Which to be honest, a nice way to say no thank you. And with a dire score of 14/28. What are the chances of being chosen for a role. I’m sure there individuals there which much higher score than me?
Pretty disappointed with myself cause I prepped. I just froze in the interview. What have people experiences been like with a score like mine and the reserve list?
Thank you 😊

The fact you're on the reserve list means you met the requirements for the role (so not as dire as you fear), but others scored higher. There's no way to guess what your chances are of being offered a role; depends how many other applicants they had and what they scored, and how many vacancies there are.Fififlower26 said:Hi, I had a interview yesterday for a position within the civil service. Fingers crossed!Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
Ah thank you. By the looks of it. I may have misread the ‘score’. I was only looking at my application scores which was 14. I got 21 for my interview which isn’t as bad I thought it would have been! Thank you 😊Marcon said:

Normally they tell you how long you'll be held on the reserve list for - sometimes it's 6 months, sometimes a year...0

Similar to orbitheadache, I was on a reserve list for 18 months before getting a position. Originally the reserve list was for 12 months but the time limit was extended. I had an interview at the start of December and was put on a 12 month reserve list as there were no positions available and then two weeks later was offered a position and I am currently waiting on security checks. HMRC recruit for future positions so they can fill them quickly however in the meantime most people find alternative jobs while waiting.0

As previous replies indicate, there is no certainty that you will be offered a job within a specified timeframe, or even that you will be offered a job at all. Continue with your job hunt and if the offer does finally come along you can make a decision then.
