Self assessment - paying NI

Have just completed my 20-21 Self assessment. At the end it states I have 'no tax to pay' but on my self assessment it says I owe class 2 and class 4 NI. So I have paid the amount totalling both class 2 and class 4 NI through the HMRC paying system. I have received an email receipt from HMRC acknowledging this. However how do I know that money will be correctly transferred to cover my NI contributions. I'm worried the fact it says I owe no tax on my self assessment that it won't get placed to the correct NI contribution.

Any help would  be greatly appreciated

  • You can check this on your Personal Tax Account as this has a NI contributions section

You will need to allow some time for the Self Assessment info to update the NI position but it should happen automatically in due course.
