I work for a large multinational. It is often quicker and easier to pay for my own cpd rather than go through the bureaucratic and political treacle of applying for funding. If I purchase training that I deem necessary for my job, can I claim exemption from VAT?

No, there's no such exemption. CPD/Training is a VATable supply. If your employer contracts and pays, they would normally be able to reclaim the VAT.1

I suspect your "deem necessary" differs from the employer's / Line Manager's "deem necessary", otherwise a big multinational would support the training.Uncle_Pennybags said:I work for a large multinational.
