Hi
I have just had a quote for the an Interlinked Smoke Alarm.
The quote is to supply and fit the alarm and comes to £397.76 including VAT.
I wondered if this was a reasonable price as it seems a little expensive

How many rooms? Is it a flat / house? Hardwired? County you're in?

@loadsacash
Hardwired or 10 year tamper proof battery (for new Scottish regulations) ?
How many of each type, smoke, heat and CO ?
I bought 2 smoke, 1 heat and 1 CO interlinked battery alarms for £115 but will fit myself.0 -
We need alarms for kitchen, hall and landing and a carbon monoxide alarm for the gas cooker.
We have a 3 bedroomed house and the alarms will be battery alarms

@loadsacash suggest you read this page.
https://www.mygov.scot/home-fire-safety
You need a HEAT ALARM for the kitchen, SMOKE ALARMS in the hall, landing and main living space.
You only need a CO alarm if you have a boiler or wood burner etc, they are not required for gas cookers or hobs.0 -

Your quote does seem high to me.1 -
Presumably these simply screw to the ceiling. https://www.safelincs.co.uk/hispec-rf-pro-range-sealed-battery-wireless-2-smoke-1-heat-alarm-kit/
If your quote is for mains powered alarms I'd expect the price would be higher due to the extra labour. Does Scottish law insist on certification? If so I suspect there would be a charge for that.

No, there is no requirement for certification. Most people can place the battery alarms on the ceiling themselves.2

The one you quote doesn't seem to mention anything about how to fix them, but presumably pads can be bought if preferred.0 -
I bought my alarms for £175 and DIY. £395 seems a bit steep."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
